The sequel movie of the Hunger Games, Catching Fire, can be classified as a science fiction mainly because of the futuristic imagination of the technology which can be seen in the Arena. This setting contains technologies that as of now are not available in our generation like the force field, spaceship that claims the body of the dead and of course the whole arena itself where the game maker can inject anything that he wants in the game. The movie is a commentary on the past, present and the future. Setting aside the love triangle among Katniss Everdeen, Peeta Mellark and Gale Hawthorne, the movie targets the deeper reality in our society: wealth, power and control. These forces are not usually being given focus in other movies but these ideas exist. Every civilization struggle to obtain the wealth, power and to control everything that is around them and this desire of complete dominance over the other leads to poverty and war. Science, technology and society fail in the world of the 13 districts because the technologies were used by the Capitol to control the 13 districts with fear. The 13 districts don’t feel any of the development in the society because it is only the Capitol who benefits from it.
